Plug for Acoustic Music San Diego!

Acoustics know no demonination. No matter what faith you follow, there is nearly always a stone and marble building within which services were held. These stone and marble buildings equal instant acoustics. If you ever sang in a choir or a glee club or went to a concert of same for a relative or friend and a church was the venue, you know I speak the truth. Imagine using such a location for acoustic concerts....

Well, there are several of these kinds of venues cropping up across the United States. "Alice's Restaurant" highlighted a church venue .... and "The Muppet Movie" borrowed that idea and housed Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem in a church venue in the middle of nowhere.

Nestled in a cul-de-sac on School Street off Adams Avenue in an eclectic stretch of streets of Normal Heights, San Diego, is a 95-year-old United Methodist Church that houses Acoustic Music San Diego. Aside from the references above, which always tickled my imagination with regard to concert venues, I also know the musicians who have already played there, love to play there. The natural acoustics of the building are enhanced by a carefully set-up sound system, to create a listening room that comfortably seats 250. Because the acoustics are so good, there isn't a bad seat in the house....

Imagine your favorite acoustic musician/band playing such a venue ... in fact, here are lists of musicians/bands who have played there in the past and will play there in the enar future:

About The Minden Village Concert Series:
The concerts were initially going to be regular, ticketed shows, but we tried a new concept, 'free with donations to the artist'. It worked out great and as long as the generosity of the audience continues, we will keep the shows 'free'.

The outdoor concert area is protected from the wind and has excellent acoustic properties. You can be sure of a relaxing evening of entertainment, and for just a few bucks tossed into the artist donation bucket!

Bring your lawn chairs. There are only about 30 chairs on site and the shows draw a few hundred people, however there is plenty of room for your lawn chairs, tables, etc. You can bring picnic baskets, however there are several vendors surrounding the concert area who sponsor the base concert expenses so we hope many of you will visit them for food and drink.

The vendors offer sushi, wine & cheese, sandwiches, salads, ice cream, homemade pies, espresso drinks, smoothies, and much more.
